In the Netherlands we have an annual event called ‘Kinderboekenweek‘ or Children’s Books Week where Dutch children’s books are promoted during ten days. Schools, libraries and bookstores all participate to organize activities. Moreover, there’s a themed book that you receive for free if you spend at least €10,- in bookstores. This year’s event takes place from the 4th until the 15th of October and the theme is terribly scary, which seems very fitting as it takes place in the Halloween month.
Since I read a huge amount of scary books when I was a child and since I usually focus on adult literature, I thought it would be fun to give recommendations for scary children’s books. Many of these books are ones I loved when I was younger.Continue reading
